# SubSync Privacy Policy

SubSync is a browser extension. It displays local or user-selected online subtitles on supported web videos.
## Local subtitle files and settings
Local subtitle files are processed on your device and are not uploaded by SubSync. Loaded subtitle text and filenames remain in the video page’s memory while the session is active.
Turning subtitles off retains the loaded track. Removing or resetting the subtitle clears it from the extension’s active session. Refreshing or closing the video page also clears the session.
Appearance preferences and timing offsets are stored locally using Chrome extension storage. Subtitle files and search history are not saved in that storage.
## Access to video pages
SubSync reads accessible video elements, playback timing, and player information to position and synchronize captions.
Optional Deep Find Videos functionality inspects frame URLs locally to discover embedded players. Access to additional player domains requires browser permission.
SubSync does not upload video-page URLs, capture video or audio, or store browsing history.
## Optional online subtitle search
Find Subtitle connects directly to https://subtitles.website when you choose to search or load an online subtitle.
The provider receives your search terms, requests identifying the subtitle you select, your IP address, and normal network connection information. Language filtering of returned results happens locally.
SubSync does not send local subtitle files, video contents, or video-page URLs to the subtitle provider. Its provider requests use HTTPS and omit cookies and referrer headers.
Search results and queries are not persistently stored by SubSync. Loaded online subtitles remain in the page session like local files.
The provider operates independently. Its own policies govern its handling and retention of requests; SubSync does not control that retention or guarantee deletion of provider records.
## Developer data collection
SubSync has no developer-operated backend, account system, advertising, or analytics. The extension does not send subtitle files or usage telemetry to its developer.
We do not sell user data or use it for advertising.
If you contact us for support, we receive the information you choose to send and use it to respond and resolve your request. Please do not include sensitive information unnecessarily.
## Your choices
Online search is optional. You can use local subtitle files without using the online provider.
You can revoke optional site permissions in Chrome’s extension settings. Removing the extension removes its local extension settings. Refresh open video pages afterward to clear any remaining page session.
